Thomas B. Nusz has served as our Director and Chief Executive Officer (or in similar capacities) since our inception in March 2007. He also served as our President until January 1, 2014, and has 34 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From April 2006 to February 2007, Mr. Nusz managed his personal investments, developed the business plan for Oasis Petroleum LLC and secured funding for the Company. He was previously a Vice President with Burlington Resources Inc., a formerly publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company or, together with its predecessors, Burlington, and served as President International Division (North Africa, Northwest Europe, Latin America and China) from January 2004 to March 2006, as Vice President Acquisitions and Divestitures from October 2000 to December 2003 and as Vice President Strategic Planning and Engineering from July 1998 to September 2000 and Chief Engineer for substantially all of such period. He was instrumental in Burlington’s expansion into the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin from 1999 to 2002. From September 1985 to June 1998, Mr. Nusz held various operations and managerial positions with Burlington in several regions of the United States, including the Permian Basin, the San Juan Basin, the Black Warrior Basin, the Anadarko Basin, onshore Gulf Coast and Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Nusz was an engineer with Mobil Oil Corporation and for Superior Oil Company from June 1982 to August 1985. He is a current member of the National Petroleum Council, an advisory committee to the Secretary of Energy of the United States. Mr. Nusz holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Taylor L. Reid has served as our Director, President, and Chief Operating Officer since January 2014. Mr. Reid previously served as Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (or in similar capacities) since our inception in March 2007 and has 31 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From November 2006 to February 2007, Mr. Reid worked with Mr. Nusz to form the business plan for Oasis Petroleum LLC and secure funding for the company. He previously served as Asset Manager Permian and Panhandle Operations with ConocoPhillips from April 2006 to October 2006. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips, he served as General Manager Latin America and Asia Operations with Burlington from March 2004 to March 2006 and as General Manager Corporate Acquisitions and Divestitures from July 1998 to February 2004. From March 1986 to June 1998, Mr. Reid held various operations and managerial positions with Burlington in several regions of the continental United States, including the Permian Basin, the Williston Basin and the Anadarko Basin. He was instrumental in Burlington’s expansion into the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin from 1999 to 2002. Mr. Reid holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University.
Michael H. Lou has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President since August 2011. Mr. Lou served as our Senior Vice President Finance (or similar capacities) from September 2009 to August 2011 and has 19 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining us, Mr. Lou was an independent contractor from January 2009 to August 2009. From February 2008 to December 2008, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Giant Energy Ltd., a private oil and gas management company, from July 2006 to December 2008 he served as Chief Financial Officer of XXL Energy Corp., a publicly listed Canadian oil and gas company, and from August 2008 to December 2008, he served as Vice President Finance of Warrior Energy N.V., a publicly listed Canadian oil and gas company. From October 2005 to July 2006, Mr. Lou was a Director for Macquarie Investment Bank. Prior to joining Macquarie, Mr. Lou was a Vice President for First Albany Investment Banking from 2004 to 2006. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Lou held positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as a Vice President, for Bank of America’s investment banking group. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Lou was an analyst for Merrill Lynch’s investment banking group. Mr. Lou holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
Nickolas J. Lorentzatos has served as our Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since January 1, 2014. Mr. Lorentzatos served as our Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from September 2010 to December 31, 2013, and has 17 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and 21 years practicing law. He previously served as Senior Counsel with Targa Resources from July 2007 to September 2010. From April 2006 to July 2007, he served as Senior Counsel to ConocoPhillips. Prior to the merger of Burlington Resources Inc. and ConocoPhillips which became effective in 2006, he served as Counsel and Senior Counsel to Burlington since August 1999. From September 1995 to August 1999, he was an associate with Bracewell & Patterson, LLP. Mr. Lorentzatos holds a Bachelor of Arts from Washington and Lee University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Thomas F. Hawkins has served as our Senior Vice President Land since January 2014. Previously, Mr. Hawkins served as Vice President Land and Contracts (or in similar capacities) since March 2009 and has 34 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Hawkins retired from ConocoPhillips Company in February 2009 after spending 31 years with ConocoPhillips and Burlington (which ConocoPhillips acquired in 2006). During that time, Mr. Hawkins held various operations and managerial positions in the Land, Marketing, Planning and Corporate Acquisitions and Divestitures groups. Mr. Hawkins has worked in several major regions in the continental United States, including the San Juan Basin in New Mexico, the Williston Basin and the Austin Chalk / Wilcox Trends in South Texas. Mr. Hawkins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Robin E. Hesketh has served as our Senior Vice President Operations since January 2014. Previously, Mr. Hesketh served as our Vice President Operations Engineering (or in similar capacities) since April 2007 and has 31 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining us, he was a Principal Engineer with ConocoPhillips. He was the Drilling and Completions Manager with Burlington China from June 2004 to March 2006, and an Advisor Engineer with Burlington from 1993 to 2004 working in Corporate Acquisitions and Operations positions in various divisions. Prior to that, Mr. Hesketh worked in Operations engineering around the globe for British Gas and Hamilton Brothers Oil & Gas. He started his career with Sohio Alaska Petroleum Company working as a field engineer in Prudhoe Bay Alaska. Mr. Hesketh holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Greg E. Hills has served as our Senior Vice President Marketing and Midstream since January 2014. Previously. Mr. Hills served as Vice President Marketing since September 2010 and has 28 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Hills was an independent consultant to the oil and gas industry and had an engagement with Oasis from early 2010 until starting full time in September. He previously served as Finance Director at Burlington Resources from the period of January 2003 to April 2006, when Burlington was acquired by Conoco Phillips. Mr. Hills held various Marketing positions at Burlington Resources beginning in October 1994 through December 2002 including Marketing Director with responsibilities including Gas Supply, Sales, Business Development, International Marketing, and Marketing Acquisitions and Divestitures. Prior to joining Burlington, Mr. Hills worked for Delhi Gas Pipeline from February 1985 to September 1994 in the operations, engineering and gas supply departments. Mr. Hills has worked in several major regions in North America and Internationally, including the San Juan Basin, Permian Basin, Anadarko Basin, East Texas Basin and the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin along with international experience in the United Kingdom, Algeria and China. Mr. Hills holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
H. Brett Newton has served as our Senior Vice President Asset Management and Chief Engineer (or in similar capacities) since October 2007 and has 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He previously served as Business Development and Partner Operations Manager Algeria with ConocoPhillips from April 2006 to September 2007. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips, Mr. Newton was Asset Manager North Africa with Burlington from May 2004 to March 2006 and held various engineering positions with Burlington from June 1994 to April 2004. Prior to joining Burlington, Mr. Newton worked for Chevron from January 1992 to June 1994. Mr. Newton has worked projects in several regions of the world, including the Berkine Basin (Algeria), the Permian Basin, the Green River Basin and the Williston Basin. Mr. Newton holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Petroleum Engineering.
Robbin Clark has served as our Vice President, Business Development since January 2015. Previously, Mr. Clark served as Director, Business Development (or similar capacities) since joining the company in May, 2012. Mr. Clark has 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and previously worked for Southwestern Energy from 2006 to 2012. There, he managed all acquisition and divestment activities within in the Marcellus, Haynesville, and Fayetteville shale plays as Director of Business Development from 2009 to 2012 and worked as the Asset Manager for the Fayetteville and Marcellus Shale assets from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Clark previously served as Burlington Resources’ East Texas Production Manager from 2005 to 2006 and Manager, Latin America from 1998 to 2006. Prior to joining Burlington, Mr. Clark worked as Director, Business Development and Gas Marketing – Americas, for Union Texas Petroleum from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Clark held various management and engineering positions at Amoco Production Co. from 1980 to 1997, including Director International Business Development – Brazil, Manager South Region – Mexico, Asset Management – Southeast US as well as various engineering and operations assignments in Texas, Louisiana and Michigan. Mr. Clark holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
James G. Jolly joined Oasis in August 2012 as Vice President Geosciences with 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Jolly held positions as the Asset Manager – Delaware Basin and Lead Geologist – Shelf Asset with Concho Resources from 2009 to 2012. Mr. Jolly was employed by ConocoPhillips / Burlington Resources from 1981 to 2009 in several technical and supervisory roles including Principal Geologist (Team Lead Barnett Shale), Senior Geological Advisor, Planning & Corporate Reporting Supervisor, and Geoscience Supervisor Anadarko Basin. During Mr. Jolly’s tenure with Burlington Resources, he was Technical Assistant to the Vice President of Geology & Geophysics for all continental US activity and was responsible for international geologic assessments in the Eastern Hemisphere. Mr. Jolly was employed by Texaco, Inc. from 1977 to 1981 as a geologist and Geology Team Lead South Texas Team. Mr. Jolly has held various geoscience positions in several regions in the continental United States including the Permian, Fort Worth, Anadarko, Black Warrior, Raton, and Gulf Coast onshore and offshore Basins. Mr. Jolly has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree in Geology from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. Mr. Jolly is a Licensed Geologist in Texas and a Certified Professional Geologist.
Jay B. Knaebel has served as our Vice President, Reservoir Engineering since January 2015. Previously, Mr. Knaebel served as Reservoir Engineering Manager (or similar capacities) since July 2012 and has over 26 years of industry experience. For a 4 ½ year period prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Knaebel was a capital partner and Vice President, Engineering and Business Development, of Compass Resources I & II, which were private equity funded oil and gas exploration companies with assets in Wyoming and Texas shale plays. The remainder of Mr. Knaebel’s career was spent in a variety of positions with Meridian Oil/Burlington Resources, and one year with ConocoPhillips. Mr. Knaebel was an influential technical contributor to ConocoPhillips’ Eagle Ford play entry, Burlington’s efforts in Canada Arctic exploration, Western Canada tight gas and CBM, China Sichuan Province tight gas, and San Juan Basin, NM, CBM. While with Burlington, Mr. Knaebel also held positions in Corporate Planning, Corporate Engineering and San Juan Basin Division Planning where he managed annual budget cycles, reserve review cycles, and long range planning cycles. Mr. Knaebel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and is a member of SPE.
Richard N. Robuck has served as our Vice President Finance and Treasurer since January 2014. Previously, Mr. Robuck served as Director Finance (or similar capacities) since April 2010. Mr. Robuck began his career 18 years ago in the oil and gas industry at Bank of America in their Energy Group. Prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Robuck was VP – Finance and Investments at Southern Ute Alternative Energy from October 2008 until April 2010. From April 2005 to October 2008, he served as the VP – Finance at Grande Communications, a private telecommunications company in Austin, Texas. In this role, Mr. Robuck managed capital market, investor relations, strategic planning and analysis, and corporate development activities. From July 2001 to April 2005, he served in various financial capacities at Grande Communications. Mr. Robuck holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration from Rice University.
Jason Swaren has served as our Vice President Operations since January 2015. Previously, Mr. Swaren served as General Manager (or similar capacities) since April 2012. Prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Swaren held various positions at Schlumberger for approximately 20 years. Some of the positions and accomplishments include: North America Pressure Pumping Supply Chain Manager, North America Coiled Tubing Manager managing 19 coiled tubing districts from Alaska to offshore east coast of Canada to Gulf of Mexico to California, Country Manager Qatar where grew business from 13 employees to 170 employees in less than two years and Field Service Manager in Alice, Texas where the highest pressure coiled tubing job in the world was performed. Mr. Swaren holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
